Tagum City, Davao del Norte Philippines -- After the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) virtual signing ceremony between the Supreme Court and Easypay Global EMI Corp. happened on Friday, July 23, 2021, Tagum City launches Fortune Pay as the municipal court's first payment channel for small claims cases.

Mr. Paul Ian W. Chan, President of Easypay, signed on behalf of the company, while the Highest Court was represented by its Court Administrator, Hon. Jose Midas P. Marquez.

Fortune Pay is the high court's first electronic payment channel, providing its users with financial services such as QR code-enabled contactless payments, real-time transactions, 24/7 availability, electronic-based monetary transfers, and online utility payments. The Fortune Pay app will help to streamline the court's present procedure for processing digital payments in Small Claims proceedings.

The Fortune Pay app will be instrumental in streamlining the court’s current operation in processing digital payments for cases involving Small Claims. The high court aims to adopt digital payments concerning the global health crisis and the urgent need of its court officials and employees for safer, faster, and more convenient electronic payment transactions. Technologically driven, the High Court's move is an innovative step help to reduce the rapidly rising cases of COVID-19 infection (since such digital forms of payment reduce cash payments in courts), but it also aligns with the Supreme Court's core goal of "Justice Bilis, not Justice Tiis." Fortune Pay's contactless payment mechanism will process payments more efficiently and quickly, resulting in a more seamless court process for litigants and judiciary employees.

As the first electronic payment for Small Claims Courts, the Fortune Pay mobile payment app has been rolled out in the Philippines on July 26, 2021, Monday.
